Cost – Variance in Different Countries August 3rd, 2008
The prices of every product varies in every country. I decided to do a small analysis on this. It’s based on the pay an average graduate gets to the percentage of salary he spends on regular merchandise like daily or monthly supplies. I also included the price of a sedan vehicle just give a picture of how the variance is between countries. I decided to go with three countries India, U.S and Australia.
The Pay an average graduate gets in India per month – 20,000 Rs.
The Pay an average graduate gets in U.S per month – 3750 USD.
The Pay an average graduate gets in Australia per month – 3826 AUD.
I call this the Earn-n-Spend table
ESP(Earn Spend Percentile) = (Cost/Salary)*10000
The ESP will give the percentage of earnings an average per month graduate will have to spend on the listed commodities below. One can multiply the rate with quantity required in a month to find the total amount he will be spending on that item for the month. The lower the ESP the better. The rates might differ from what i have mentioned but not much(If there is a large variance let me know). All are approximate values and may change.
| Australia | America | India | Winner | ||||

| Car | 30000 | 78410.87 | 30000 | 80000 | 100,0000 | 500000 | Australia |
Seems like U.S is a cheaper place for a graduate to live. And people say U.S is expensive. I think Australia is more expensive. Ofcourse there is a money conversion between them but I only did the table for graduates living in those specific countries and earning there.

The real expenditure in us is not food. It is the taxes+rent/utilities + vehicle/insurance. Then u get the grad student fees into play. Being a grad student who finds it tough to make ends meet – trust me America is NOT cheap.
August 8th, 2008 at 6:50 am
US is expensive for Higher education. If you have a loan behind and if you get paid @ 6$ an hour (min wage), survival is tough – As raj has pointed out, Rent is way too high. Insurance is high for ppl<25 and for those who dont have a I pay 25% of my salary towards rent and all I have is a room
.
At the end of the day, a lot depends on your lifestyle. The day you convince yourself that $1 = Re.1, a new life begins. Thats how I’ve been able to survive, looking beyond the monthly food and other expenses!
You have arrived at an hypothetical conclusion based on food ONLY. Americans eat rather HOG, so food will be cheaper. Lets consider a different Scenario. Say you have a 2 bed house. And only one bath. How much would it cost to construct anothe bathroom back home? – 20 K may be 30 K worst case? Trust me In US, my landlord was given a quote of USD 14,000 for it! HOLY CRAP!
Manual Labor is way too expensive.
Case 2 – Back home u can get a good house, one bed apt, for say 40 – 50L Lakhs in Ashok nagar (Prime area). Thats about 7 Yrs salary (6 L per annum is common these days)
Out here, a single family home Equivalent to a 1 bed costs about 600 Grand thats atleast 10 – 12 yrs of ur total Income.
THIS is the case even though most lands are un occupied in this country. Back home u hardly have space to walk!
Add to it a 13 % tax in india and 30% tax out here!
Every country prorates its prices based on Demand and supply. US – Too much junk so food is cheap. India.. Too little space to live so real estate is moderately High.

how about the earnings after the completion of education…?? no one mentioned that??

It’s well known that America suffers from a corrupt legal system. When George Bush, Dick Cheney, Larry Summers, Donald Rumsfeld, and Ben Bernankeend up hung for treason, I’ll think differently. Heck, I’d think differently if just one ends up in jail. I would even settle for a public flogging
.

My husband and i cannot believe just how much snow may have fallen ever since this past evening. Our 10 year old taking his very first trip towards snow territory during the winter season. He’s receiving his money’s good worth. The exact snow throughout the yard is a greater depth than he is without a doubt in height, which means that he’s going to like that!

Great article. I have been attempting to fully understand this matter and be able to teach people. I think you have wonderful ideas here along with proven results. My own question is: Is there a strategy to really get all of your tips here in the form of an ebook? Do you have a guide written on this subject matter? The reason why I’m requesting is that I don’t have constant access to the web. Therefore, a book might really help me to make consultation even when there is absolutely no internet access.

Im always amazed that with a little extra searching, a person can come acrosssome of the most fascinating articles. Its sort of bothers me that more blogs like this arent ranked at the top in the search engine results. I know a friend that will appreciate this blog so Ill send him a link to your post. I run a small US firm that makes a line of inspirational political gifts that commemorate the great leaders, events and speeches of United States politics. One could say I focus in unusual gifts as my handle would suggest. Im hoping for the US economy to get rolling again so I hope youll permit me including my url in this comment. I should also add that I am the sort who still believes America keeps getting better and better in spite of our current difficulties. Thanks again the engrossing blog!

America has had to listen to liberal presentation of the news for decades. By the time Fox News started broadcasting an alternative view the left was so used to having it their way that they lost all composure when they had to hear the truth. In addition, you may not like Fox News but it is the only news networks that I have noticed that almost always has conservative and liberal guests to discuss issues. The other cable networks rarely allow conservative viewpoints in their discussions and when they do invite a conservative the person is screamed down by the host or asked a series of questions and not allowed to answer the first question. There is one network and host that seems to be especially proud of their reputation.

My wife is a school teacher and her kids were asking about the game. Its a shame that 10-14 year olds who may be experiencing the best team this town has ever seen are being screwed out of the first half of the game. By the time the school bus drops off the last kid, its about 4:30pm.

If the president is certainly Bush and the v . p . might be Mr. Dick Cheney an entire great deal of _______ is that which you could expect. This quote is from Talib Kweli and I believe its real. Dick Cheney stole a great deal belonging to the American peoples dough it really is inepte. The in reality saugrenu component is how he got away by using it all.

I didn’t understand the concluding part of your article, could you please explain it more?
October 14th, 2011 at 7:55 pm
Mattie, somewhere in a file I had looked at when the teams to advance to the conf champ game had lost. If I recall, the most losses were in games 1 and 2. The best stretch was from about mid-season to about game 14. But you have to keep in mind if you are looking at streakiness, alot of teams that have gone on to do well have lost near the end of the season when maybe things aren’t on the line. Denver started 12-0 in 1998 and finished 2-2, for example. What we could do, though, is look at the teams that are say, from 9-7 to 11-5 and made the playoffs, and see if the distribution of their wins is skewed differently for those that advance and those that do not. My guess is that it would be a mixed bag.

The action in this movie was the same in every fight scene and seeing a little girl stabbing grown men and cutting off their legs is just frankly uncomfortable.

I must express my love for your kind-heartedness for folks that should have guidance on this one theme. Your real commitment to getting the solution all-around had been astonishingly functional and has without exception encouraged men and women just like me to arrive at their objectives. Your entire important guide can mean a whole lot to me and somewhat more to my colleagues. Thanks a ton; from everyone of us.

After moving into inner Atlanta because I’ve grown tired of a completely car dependent lifestyle, my auto insurance went from 70 dollars a month to nearly 160 based solely on my location… . Not only is this unfair and stupid, it seems to me to defy logic. I would think the suburban commuter who is spending lots of time in his car every day is more prone to claims than me, who barely has a reason to use my car anymore…. Ridiculous… Clarification: We’re talking state minimum coverage here, so I wasn’t covered for theft in the first place.
